Early on, however,<br \/>\nmeasures were taken for a more rational<br \/>\nforestry. In 1911 a steam sawmill was built<br \/>\nin Str\u00f6msberg with a capacity of 110,000<br \/>\ntimbers per year. The closing of the sawmill<br \/>\njust under half a century later meant the<br \/>\nend of a 300-year-old industrial epoch.<br \/>\nThe Forestry Museum tells about the<br \/>\nimportant forestry, the importance of<br \/>\ncharcoal for iron production and the life<br \/>\nand conditions of the forestry workers.<br \/>\nFrom the later sawmill era all the steps required<br \/>\nfor the forest to be processed from<br \/>\ntimber to planks and boards are shown.<br \/>\nThe museum also houses what may be<br \/>\nSweden\u2019s largest public collection of elk<br \/>\ncrowns.
