Swedish iron production was still<br \/>\ninsufficient for the needs of the battlefields.<br \/>\nBut with the help of skilled miners and<br \/>\nfinanciers, mainly from Wallonia, a rapid<br \/>\ndevelopment of iron production took<br \/>\nplace.<br \/>\nAt the beginning of the 1640s, the<br \/>\nDutchman Welam Wervier was granted<br \/>\npermission to build blast furnaces and<br \/>\nhammers in Str\u00f6msberg.<br \/>\nIn 1734 Str\u00f6msberg was sold to the De Geer<br \/>\nfamily of L\u00f6vstabruk.<br \/>\nThe following decades were characterized<br \/>\nby stability and the central parts of the<br \/>\nindustry were given their present design.<br \/>\nIn 1861, Str\u00f6msberg was acquired by Count<br \/>\nBaltzar von Platen and in 1877 by Count<br \/>\nAxel Wachtmeister.
